If you want to start your day watching people abuse each other than I'd say you have issues. Abuse is not humorous.

Unfortunately, sometimes humor is abusive. Well, nearly always. Just depends on what level of abuse one is willing/capable of handling and whether you are the target of the abuse/humor.

It's taken me many years to realize that abuse of any kind, to anybody in any way is not humorous. My opinion of course. This comes from me, a man that used to be the King of ball busters. I still slip. I still poke fun, I still laugh but in hindsight it never comes from a kind place. Because I've made a serious effort to rid my life of these type of behaviors I'm hyperconscious to it. I get that.

The abusive asses have always been around. The interwebz just make a person more aware of how many of them are actually out there. The anonymity seems to appeal to them by providing a wider audience.

My prior comment was simply recognizing that humor usually comes at someones expense. As for seeing how the mob reinforces less than admirable behavior doesn't boil my blood, but it at least causes me to well up with a good phlegm bomb. I'll admit though, some of those less than socially acceptable comments do draw a good laugh.

Yeah. Where would humor be without someone paying for it? There'd be a lot of comedians and writers out of work. Oh and trust me Craig. I do enjoy pushing the limits of societal norms and I'm sure I always will. Making people cringe some can be a good thing. Let it be from a kind heart though. xoxo

[soap box on] Well Bruce, It's simple. If I came to your house and $hit in your swimming pool, maybe you wouldn't care and you would swim around carelessly, but some people,.... who actually come to swim, would decide to leave....

This is the reason that some websites moderate, or don't moderate. The tone of the site determins who sticks around and who leaves, and visa versa, much like the turd in the pool.

I have no personal problems with Ron or Willy, who seem to lead the league in bannings. Dostie bans them because they are setting a $hitty tone for HIS website, which he would like to be about skiing. Ron can't leave his personal chess match in the past, so he is making comments and calling out his adversaries on many threads. That behavior makes the forum about Ron's chess match with his chosen nemeses, and since Ron posts so much, his prolific posting drives other topics off the front page quickly,... so the whole site becomes about Ron and his issues with other people and his preference for XCD, the burr turn,... and whatever other stuff he constantly wants to interject. Honestly, he is so prolific at posting stuff, he should start his own website and forum, to see how many people actually value his "Free speach". For now, he is on Dostie's site, and Dostie would like the tone of his site to be less about "old TTips grudges" being reborn here, and more about skiing.

As for Willy, he is the hannibal lecter of the forum. He has a very perceptive nature, but also a desire to color outside the lines as well. He can pick on people for their comments in a factual way or just call them names and tell them to STFU. He changes the tone of the site into his own brand of a personal chess match too. Dostie has to weigh the value of his perceptive nature against the negative tone of his insults.

I have said in the past that various people come here for various reasons. Everyone who is posting here through the filter of Dostie's moderating, determins the tone of this site. Some people want to post bacon. Some people want to indulge in disrespect. Some people want to be the funny guy. Some people want to post about skiing. Most of us can coexist here fine with slightly different reasons to be here.

There's little doubt in my mind that some of the worst behavior is based on some personal desire to show others how "thick" that person's skin is. I can't think of a more played out and boring internet forum scenario. We all get it, playing the insulting forum badboy is so cool... but it's really NOT. It's old, worn out, and boring beyond belief. It's not just a distraction from ski related topics, it hijacks the forum's tone, as those who wish to engage in this contest of thicker skins follow each other from thread to thread...

Ya know Bruce, When someone $hits in the pool, it may be a form of free speach, but the true Free speach worth defending has value. Being disrespectful on an internet forum is not a valuable thing, and whether you consider it a form of free speach or not, it diminishes the quality of the forum, as well as disrespects the effort that Dostie made to give skiers a place to post ski related topics, whether they are questions, stoke, local avy conditions or something else. All of those make a website better than constant flow of disrespect that is in many forums on the internet.

I posted this $hit rather than just leave like some valuable members of the tele-community have decided to do. I assume I am the next target now for those who feel Dostie's site is a place to play their little chess match of disrespect. That's how the game goes, unless Dostie wants a different tone here and does something about it, which he has done with FAR more restraint than I would have used. I am here. I try and be respectful, but sure I can take a poke or a joke in jest. I am just not interested in the boring $hitstorm surrounding the forum badboys...

If you go over to TGR, you can play the badboy all you want, but I think even TGR is less of a $hitshow these days, because as I said, the internet badboy scenario is boring, tired, and completely worn out.

If I went over to biff's site, and started posting dailly pictures of Raptor jesus on your kingdom thread, how long do you think it would be before Biff banned me?.... Well, WTF is wrong with him?... why doesn't he "Lighten up"?... *BTW, I wouldn't do that to Biff out of RESPECT for him and the effort he makes to run his site... [/soap box off]
