Learned to telemark (Asolo doubles, Rossi TKS, Chouinard pins) in YNP at Snow Lodge in 88-89, then moved to Cooke in March 89. Lived in the cabin with the red/white barber shop door frame just as you leave town to YNP until November. Rebuilt a Super Beetle, skied and hiked my brains out. Back in the day we'd spend days skiing out of Horn Miller's cabin below Henderson and in the old hammermill along Fischer Creek (both gone - thanks USFS). Shoulda stayed... well... reflecting on most of the locals back then... maybe not.

I had never been to this area in winter/spring, but it didn’t disappoint. And being able to visit Yellowstone without crowds on the drive in and out, as well as on a rest day, makes for a great ski destination.
Add in that we skied 4 days and saw:
day 1: 4 other people
day 2: no one
day 3: 3 other people
day 4: no one
And all the people we did see were brief passes, or in the distance, with the exception of one shared descent.
