since your retired treat your recovery like a job, look forward to seeing pics of you skiing again in the future, you got this!
Thanks for the encouragement. Actually, I like rehab, weight training and self improvement. My immediate goal is to improve my situation everyday. So far, off the opiates and just Tylenol and Advil, getting better on my walker. Got a MRI on fri so waiting for those results. Then see what is next? Already booked a appt with best hip doc here, My pain level is not too bad. Next challenge is to teach Lynn how to operated our snow blower. It is a 10 hp and big..........Thinking a lot of snow here in the next few days. Sierra Cement..........

    • Sorry quad, hope you heal up soon. Glad they caught the kid; can you press charges? Leaving the scene of a hit and run?

I had a skier cut in front of my tips, at speed, within inches a few days ago at the resort. I was going to catch him and pound on him a bit, but he was too fast (I was on teles.)
So now I keep looking for his brown jacket, to have some "words", though there are a lot around.😏

IMO, the local High School, where this kid races should pull him off the ski team, for leaving an injured skier, he hit, lying on the snow. Just an idea.
I have gotten to the point where I just avoid crowded resort days; weekends. Too dangerous.

      • Dang Quad. That sucks. Prayers for a complete recovery - sooner than later. Hope that kid gets a conscience.

        ain't no turn like tele!

        • My weather nerd friends who watch the models are saying look out for a possible big rain on snow event ~8-10 days out. For us here in AZ, but possibly the Sierra too. Fingers crossed things stay cold.

          • Scary. I will be in Utah March 3-9th. Hope the powder I have heard about isn't blown out. 😥

            • BTS - heard the same thing this morning on the news. Hard to believe a “bigger rain/snow event” is in the cards next week, it’s freaking dumping at Kirkwood right now, probably get a couple of feet more today and 3 more feet tomorrow! Lifts now getting shut down Geez, it’s crazy, I thought I was going to have to use my goggles.😳

Perfect timing. Several more inches of water by then and no warm temps forecast until 3/10 event:

                may the great winter continue

                • X rated? hoping that I don't need a new hip. Making progress but still on a walker.

                    • Looks like some deep bruising/hematoma? That alone can be a source for a lot of pain. Hopefully it doesn’t come to it but the good thing about hip replacement’s they’re really good at them and recovery is relatively quick with good results from the folks I know who have had them. Talk to your hip guy yet?

                      • Man, this storm is no joke. I've never seen this much snow. Hope everyone is staying safe and warm. If the roads are plowed tomorrow, the skiing is going to be epic.

                        • Actually the last two days South lake has done a commendable job plowing and Heavenly has been able to turn the lower lifts, which provided exceptional skiing. Driving home been a bit of a challenge in near whiteouts at times.

Thanks, I have a appt with the doc who did Lynn's hip and a few other friends. I had a x ray and MRI and haven't seen the results of the MRI. My appt is way out there so, I have time to see how much it will improve by then and issues that may come up after swelling goes down. Right now, just a day to day plan for improvement. My goal for today is to be able to get up and down to the floor so I can start some floor exercises, my goal for the weekend is to be able to walk without a walker. Feeling decent this morning, good bowel without a laxative, no narcotics and pain is in the 3-4 range.

                            • What Tahoe BC said, Heavenly has had the Gunbarrel running on many days in which upper mountain was closed. With drought conditions (icy moguls) and advancing age I stopped skiing the Gunbarrel a couple years ago, just skied the lower section from Round About to the base. But with all these powder days this year I’ve lapped Gunbarrel more times this year than ever before, it’s been awesome! Big phat skis help, DPS 112’s. Never thought I would enjoy Gunbarrel so much again. Tahoe BC posted a funny picture on TGR a while back showing the carnage when Gunbarrel and not much else open on a powder day, hilarious!

                              • Arnica can help with the bruising, a decent topical cbd cream can really help with aches and pains also. Hoping time will heal it without going under the knife.

yea spqr, so DPS 112’s are a great ski, there my rock skis now but they still ski great, it’s like the carbon does lose its pop over time. The Volkl Katana V-Werks is my new favorite ski paired with a Solomon MTN binding, so light and playful
