  • 3D Printed Ski Boots (um, boot liners)

didn't see this coming. from the title of main article, it sounded like printed boot shells, no, its just the liners that are printed.

If only there was a way to get custom fitted ski boot liners for only $200 instead of $1000.

I haven't put on alpine boots in almost 20 years, but how uncomfortable are they that someone would consider spending that kind of money?

Well, the liners are probably more for performance than comfort. WTBS, modern Alpine ski boots with moldable shells and liners are very comfortable skiing down, not so much walking around.

Reminds me of the time, not long after the first moon landing, when dad asked us kids if we could have any wish would we want a colour TV or a digital printer for our boot liners. Oh boy!

Yes, even with 80 degree RoM, the alpine sole isn't great to walk in. Skinning and skiing, yes; walking, nope.
