much TeleTips content still available thanks to Google caching! capture & re-post?

I've found a great wealth of useful and interesting information over the years by searching the TelemarkTalk archives (and usually weeding through some garbage to find the gems), and am sad to lose that resource. But I just discovered that quite a lot of the TT forum content is still available in Google cached pages! If you know of useful/interesting/stokeful/insightful TT forum content that was "lost" with the demise of TeleTips, why not see if you can still grab it, and maybe re-post it here? For those unfamiliar with a couple of pretty useful Google features, here's how:

1. Perform a Google search for some key words followed by the qualifier "site:telemarktalk.com" to restrict the search to look only under that URL.

2. In the results list, rather than clicking the link directly (which won't work 'cuz TT is dead), click instead on the little triangle on the right below the link, and if you see an option for "Cached" then click that to view Google's cache of that page.

Simple! Here's a screenshot for the purpose of example....



BTW, if you don't see an option for "Cache" when you click the little triangle, then it means Google does not have a cache of that page. And grab your content now, because there's no telling how long Google will maintain their caches of these dead pages.

Granted there is lots of good stuff to be had from those caches, however the challenge of a good "graft" from those Google Caches is not picking up any of the contaminated content most would like to leave behind. Ski reviews would be a likely candidate for saving as were many of the trip reports and photos.

Generally speaking, entries from those in the 3000 to 5000 post count range were usually thoughtful and intellegent.

I am one actually felt that TTips was a well of much useful information. Sure there was the all-to-common rant or the occasional flame war, but it was actually somewhat contained, compared to those d-bags over at TGR. I often referenced past trip reports and and techincal discussions. Even the random blathering was fun and often clever.


It's too bad that Mitch can't just turn it back on, even if inactive with no new posting, so ol farts can relive the glory days with that wonderful search function.

The "Good Food in SLC" thread was very useful. A bit dated at this point, but it made me aware of a bunch of good places to eat that I had know of.
