  • Freeride icing

A couple of weeks ago I was skiing some deep, wet snow and had a huge amount of icing on my Freerides. It kept my heel 3" off the heel plate and I had to dig it out with a pole tip. It seems like the binding is designed to pack snow between the flexible plastic part and the metal frame rails. Every turn lets snow in as you raise your heel, and packs it as your heel comes back down. The holes cut into the sides of the rails help to lock in the the snow as it packs in. I can't see where spraying it with silicon will help much but I'll give it a try.

    Known problem.
The worst culprit to me seems to be the brake arm/springs. Consider removing them.

I've been spraying them with silicone lubricant spray - seems to help some: snow is there still, but it doesn't pack O_o
i.e it is soft and easy to clean; seems to clean by itself; no discomfort.

I've also read somewhere that Voile was making anti-ice tape; installing it might help. Try regular scotch, too.

Someone said (on new TTalk) that PAM Cooking spray might help; we don't have that in Ukraine.

I like all kinds of snow. The only poor snow I know of is ice. That better be climbed.

Clear packing tape on the base of the frame has helped a lot for me.
