I hiked it about two weeks ago and there was about 4 or 5 inches of crust on most of the approach. Over the weekend there were reports of up to a foot of fresh snow on the news, but the Oregon Snotel only reported 2 or 3 inches. There's a web cam down the road at Dead Indian Memorial summit:

Hasn't been enough snow for the nordic club to run the drag.
There are two trailheads. The first is on 140 at the snopark "Trailhead Summit" but adds about 2 miles to the approach. The other involves turning north on FS4661 towards Four Mile Lake and then take a left at the fork where a few hundred yards down there's a pit toilet and parking lot on the right. This was where I started a few weeks ago and I would imagine you could get in with a 4x4 or AWD with decent rubber. I dunno if you want to try and rally all around up there or just walk the extra half hour. I didn't actually summit because the wind was howling that day I was up there so I couldn't get a good visual of the north aspects. There's a snowfield some ski on the southeast / east aspect, but I wouldn't cart skis up there to make five or six turns personally.
Skis are a square peg with a round hole around here right now. I'd go back up around Bachelor if you've just gotta ski or when in Rome - break out the bicycle.
I skied it McLaugh a couple of years ago in the spring. There is an access point from the NE involving back backroads and probably some bushwacking for a straightforward assent/decent. I just used the summer summit trail. Then skied steepish NW/W bowls before shwacking toward the lake until hitting the PCT for an easy stroll back to the car.
This page contains photos, route descriptions,
and other information about ski mountaineering on Mount McLoughlin (9495 ft / 2894 m)
in the Cascade Range of Oregon.
This is a page from the online guidebook, 'Skiing the Cascade Volcanoes',
a part of Amar Andalkar's Ski Mountaineering and Climbing Site.
Actually an excellent resource for Cascade skiers.
