have 2 wks off. where would you go for good snow right now. starting in LA driving - could go from sierra, New Mex, Co, UT, ID, Wy? resort wise - where would you go over the next 2 wks? and why? or should we just change plans and go hiking in the S.West? Thanks in advance.

Here's a handy map showing snow pack status for western U.S. Red is bad. Blue is good. Colorado was low but things have been improving. A friend just got back from road trip to Targee, Big Sky, Bridger Bowl and said conditions were decent.

looks like a bleak week in the western US for new snow- I would look at this http://www.weather.com/maps/maptype/...day_large.html more than percent of average snowpack maps linked above- I think everywhere in the Rockies anyway has a good base it's all about new snow at this point, no?Reluctant enthusiast, part-time crusader, half-hearted fanatic
