  • Teton Pass TR:

I was up with my son on Teton Pass the other day. The snow was pretty well settled and tracked out but very nice and easy to ski. A great day considering the ice skating rink the resorts are right now.

A good view of the boot pack and terrain up Glory.

My son had some technical Dynafiddle problems. He broke the plastic piece that locks the toe for climbing. We were trying to think of a way to get it to work and a splitter climbs by and suggests we tie it up with some chord. The repair worked fine for a few more laps. I might have to adjust my opinion of splitters.

Grant, thanks for the ipad posting tips and whitehonky if you are reading this I was on my Helix skis. I did not intend to use them in the BC but they were a dream in this snow. What a fun ski.

I might need to get a new color pack or jacket.

Sweet!... We need snow badly here, so those turns look extra sweet...
the fall line is your friend.... resistance is futile

Thanks for the pics, many fond memories from the pass. Glad you had stable snow for your tour with your son.
Go your own way...the line is shorter.

James, what great looking snow. Thanks for the nice photos. Such snow and skiing seems a long ways away from our recent stuck-here warm, sunny weather and lack of snow. Especially nice to hear that you now like your Helix skis. My un-skied, new Helices are languishing in the closet, waiting for me to try them out whenever we finally get some snow here in the southwest part of the Pacific Northwest.

Great TR James - sounds as close to perfect as can be hoped for! And don't worry about the color combo - it actually balances out pretty well.

Nice to see father and son still getting turns together. Hope that continues with my family. Also glad you are liking the Liberty's. I've been mostly skiing mine for everything this year, as it's a very versatile tool for the variable snowpack and terrain conditions so far this year. Only had the bigger skis out twice this year. The Liberty's have been handling everything I could ask them to deal with. But, they are getting core-shot ravaged this season with many alluring days filled with sharkfins and snow snakes. But, all skis are rock skis....

                  Continue with your great season!

Thanks for the kind words. I still get to ski with my son several times per year. He is 23 now but skiing is one of the things I can still keep up with. He spends most of his time climbing some type of rock ice or both and he is considerably stronger then me there.

Paul, I think that pack is hideous but there is zero chance I will get rid of it. It has every feature I was looking for.

                      Thanks for the TR James,
It brings back old memories of Teton Pass. Was that bowl in the second shot, Edelweiss? I remember doing some head plants (on light tele gear) in there..

I don't remember all the names there, sorry. The pass has more names then most ski areas. maybe some day I will figure some of them out but that seems unlikely since I don't even know most of the names at the ski area I frequent.

I am trying to get back out there but I really annoyed my patella tendon. I did not fall or twist it but that was my first big BC day this year and apparently I must of over worked it. It is very swollen and very sore so I have not skied and may be out for the rest of this trip.
