Headed up to Copper Lake from my cabin in Gothic, CO for a night out while temperatures were warmish and the pressure was high. About 1600 over 5 miles, and perhaps a bit much for the fishscales on my 10th Mountains, but doable with the odd stint of side-stepping and warm snow. Not the most elegant shelter (basically just dug a pit for my sleight tent), but it kept me warm enough, or at least not much colder than my typical shoulder-season backpacking trips.
An early sunset meant lots of reading. A near-full moon meant not much sleeping.
Skiing out was fast and occasionally good (there was a bit of breakable crust in inconvenient places).

More turns next time I promise.
