  • advice needed for helicopter tape

I'm looking for a clear tape to cover the metal surface of my NTN Freedom base plate (which could be the cause of bad balling of snow). Ideally 4 inches wide, just need a couple of feet of it. I can always use the extra on bikes, Surfboards etc.

Any advice on what quality to look for or brand names. I presume a slight flexibility would be an advantage for mounting and certainly need something that will hold and last in extreme cold.

Any advice in mounting also welcome.

I just had a clear bra put on my car and when I was watching it finish up I thought it would work great for this. It sticks to metal, withstands cold, stays on well above 100 mph and with wax is slick as snot. 3M sells rolls that are 6 inches wide and not to expensive.

I wonder if there is any down side to this.

There's plenty of choices out there.

Problem is, they won't sell it to you unless you actually have a helicopter.
