On more than one occasion, I've skied through the remains of tall, dead shrubbery...
One particular time I ran into the owner of said stubs of shrubbery later that day.
Down on the main road. Turns out I had been camping on his property.
Told him what I was doing - way cool dude. Invited me to his house where he lives with his gorgeous wife
-off the grid, making electricity from the creek.

That's encouraging for those of us in this Northern CA area where the snow line seems to be moving higher every year with what seem to be increasingly warm winters. The only plus for this situation is that in some cases roads are staying open longer for better access to the higher country where the snow persists.
