New Tahoe ski tour guide just came up a little while ago. Looks like a work in progress but so far well done. Check it out, would be useful if you are coming to the area to ski tour.
Hey QZ, this crack team of web pundits have already mentioned this website, but damned if I can remember where. I think it's pretty impressive but there's already grumbling about overexposure of "secret stashes" (not so much on this forum.) You can't just go off mountain biking for a week and expect us to wait for you. Now let's see some pix of you hucking cliffs like those in the background:
PS I hope you like this snow. We ordered it for your return.
Even if QZ had been chained to his computer, he definitely gets a pass on this. No one with sound judgment would read 4 pages into a thread about moving to Berkeley.
What happened to the online guide that used to be available from thebackcountry.net? I went looking for it (to compare it with this one) but couldn't find it. Did Mike pull it down? As I recall it had a lot more detail than this one (though maybe didn't cover as many areas).
Oops, however it was mentioned in the previous post re the site that it was mainly meadow skipping. I have skied most of the mentioned tours and for the most part it is best we have around here, so if that is meadow skipping then I would like to know where that guy skis.
Was going to try to jump into the river off the trail but chickened out since it was twice the Golden Gate bridge.

No. I said Marcus's http://www.backcountryskitours.com/ is mostly meadowskipping. The skitahoebackcountry site is new and has the standard Tahoe tele/AT hits--which I don't really think of as meadowskipping.
And Fogey, that site wasn't linked in the Berkeley thread. Bob, you probably saw that kid plugging it for his buddy on TGR in the Tahoe thread. That's the only place I've seen it linked so far, other than this thread. Edit- Or maybe you saw it here?: http://www.backcountrytalk.earnyourt...ublishing-Beta

Sorry about the misquote, I only looked at the link from Fogey and assumed it was re: this new site. Anyway, bottomline the new site is very good and comprehensive with some strong tours. The other site from Marcus is good too. So, using both is a good resource if you are scratching your head as where to go touring.
Just for the record, and now that some synapses have fired up again, it was the reverend loren who first brought my attention to the new site. Unfortunately, the reverend is a hit-and-run poster...just can't stick around...no stamina...
still looking for the TR, QZ. I plan to use it as a personal guide next fall when we follow your footsteps....err....cycle tracks

OK. got some very good pics so I will try to put a few together this afternoon. This AM we are going to Meadows and tour around and maybe make a turn. You would like Moab, high energy place with warm happy folks. Oh yeah, plenty to do too.
Later QZ
Will post some Moab pics in the MT. Bike thread shortly. Touring today was better than expected. Very foggy drive but some clearing at the top. The coverage was about 6-10" of dry snow over ground. Climbing on fishscales was good, decending was sketch with a lot of sharks. We did about 8-900 vert and toured around 3 miles. Might try that Relay Ridge road tomorrow it looked good for coverage. I think right now the coverage is great for just kick/glide and slogging around, decending is not safe.
