  • Anyone else not buy a pass to their local hill this year?

Yup, that's my story. Good to be back among friends by the way.

My wife's studio building project exhausted our discretionary funds, (yes, I know, for some a having a pass is in the same category as groceries and gas money) So it's the skin track express for me this winter. But maybe some other folks don't buy passes, even if they can afford it.

Didn't get a LL pass this year. Not due to lack of funds tho. Mainly because: got a three day pass at Steamboat, which I haven't skied in 15 years, 5 days @ WP/MJ. Went there for the first time in 10 years, and a few four packs to LL, A-bay and copper. Between that and BC, should be plenty and hopefully if I run dry, I can score some on CL cheap towards the end of the season. Hope I didn't just jinx myself. Welcome back Piper.

skipping a pass this year too...we've got a newborn and think my days will be a little limited, so i'm opting mostly for skinning. we've got family coming to visit during blackout days in dec. and feb., so we will just pick a few smaller resorts to bring them to. also thinking that i'll be doing a lot of skating and striding with the chariot this winter so my wife and i can get out together...

I was in shoestring's camp for about 3 seasons while my wife popped out little ones, but the 3- and 5-year olds are now on skis, our glorious albeit little hill is relatively inexpensive, and what else am I going to do with the oil checks Alaskans get every fall?

Haven't bought a pass in years. Been working at ski resorts mostly.
          This year...
Not sure if I'm going to be working on the hill.
Skin trackin' or maybe some volunteering for day passes.

If you're down in the capitol city and want to ride lifts let me know - free pass for you.

No pass this season. But, that would be a much bigger disappointment if I lived where you do. I might pimp myself out to the powers that be. It would be nice to see my nephew, brother in law, sister, wife, etc. ride this season. Without tickets I'll ride alone I guess. If I make it down your way we should definitely ski/ride one way or another. Is my friend right saying it's a La Nina, that's the southern cycle right?

I'll be using the same skins I used last year.

Whoops, didn't have email notifications/subscription hoo ha set up - ok, now I should know when people post...

Yeah, TV - prolly take you up on that ticket when you get Big Rocks and Easter Bowl open. Havn't skied SF in years, it's a rockin' little hill when it's all there.
Likewise, let me know if you coming up to tour in Taos.

dschane, yer lucky you get autopass $ every year, even if it does come from petroleum evil. I'd be doing the same, if NM had that much oil.

No pass this year either. Trying to prevent my lazy ass from sitting on a chair lift at the local hill. I hope to tour more instead.

Not for me either, for some of the reasons already listed: baby's coming next Monday and I'll have my hands full with 2 little boys. Plus we're moving to Maine in January and I want to explore some parts of UT in the early season that I haven't skied yet.

Congrats on the baby and the move, though I don't envy you having those things come close in time. Good luck.
