Looks great. It makes perfect sense that snow layer testing can be automated. This'll allow resorts and other commercial operators to get a lot more data points to base their forecasting on.
It's not testing. It only measures resistance. But it does a better job of that than we do by hand in pits, and it is very fast, so you can gather a lot of data about the layers in the snowpack while also getting a better idea of the spatial variability of certain features for analysis. I think the real excitement is in the operations of avalanche forecast centers and some guiding operations.
