  • OT: Unplugging the beer fridge = Capital Offense?

I was just finishing a ski mount, feeling rather happy. I remembered the Titebond glue, everything went together well, Time for a Corona from the beer fridge in the Man-Cave.

The Horror, when I opened the door!
My son had gone off to College last weekend, and took his surge protector when he left. And apparently unplugged the mini fridge!

So it was pretty ugly inside, I will spare gentle readers any images..

Should he be banned (temporarily) from the man cave? I will try the two remaining Coronas on my wife and ask her if they "taste ok?"

Leaving a beer fridge unplugged = failed college in the worst possible way. You should make him clean up the science projects AND fill the fridge with beer... at minimum.

Edit to add: public humiliation would not be out of line.

What, and let him back in the house?

Change the locks, and when he comes back from school, turn off all the lights and be really quiet. For added value put a "Sold" sign on the front lawn.

Punishment from Ullr because you didn't get the beer BEFORE starting the ski mount. Shame. Your fault. And your son will have a snowless winter.

Dang! Step away from that whistle and put away that black and white striped shirt!

Disagree on the consequence and there is a point to consider.

First, the thing to consider: working on skis after the traumatic shock of the fridge discovery could have many awful consequences..crooked holes, jig misaligned, binding pullout...oh the list is horrifying. Quite by accident, no worry about any of those.

On the other hand, failing to crack one open preparatory to working on the skis is like a two minute minor for hip checking the guy who just slammed your goalie, or, for hoop fans, a technical for stepping on the court because of some blood-soaked, but uncalled foul to your player. No, the consequences for the original foul and all of the blame for committing it rightly go to the kid!

            Frigging Referees!

This is sounding more and more like a family in crisis. And that bench is altogether too clean. I do like Polemonium's idea. But it won't teach your son anything about beer. What kind of college does he go to where he doesn't understand the first thing about beer? It is your paternal duty to help him through these tough times. And Corona? Did you go to the same college?

Actually I prefer Magic Hat #9 beer, but I was too lazy to go up the stairs to the other fridge.. It's a good thing I checked the Mini Fridge though

No need for these drastic punitive measures. Just don't pay his tuition; your surge protector will be back in no time.

BTW, chamonix, how is it his surge protector? Is his name on it? Did he actually purchase it?
