Please join Winter Wildlands Alliance, Montana Backcountry Alliance, and the Montana Wilderness Association for an evening of beer, brats, and skiing on Monday, July 21 at 7pm in the Beal Park recreation center. We are meeting to discuss the Forest Service’s new winter travel planning rule and how it will affect human-powered winter recreation and winter habitat conservation.
By designating specific trails and areas where over-snow vehicle use may occur, winter travel planning is an opportunity to bring balance to the backcountry. The draft rule mostly misses this opportunity. In order for the Forest Service to improve this rule before it is finalized they need to hear from people who value quiet winter ecosystems and human-powered recreation. This gathering is an opportunity to learn about the draft rule and submit your comments on the spot.
Beer and brats will be provided. Please bring a laptop if possible. People who submit comments before the evening ends will receive a free Ambler hat.
We hope to see you there!
